Our method
How we pick our finds
Our whole method fits in one sentence: a product earns its place on the review record, or it doesn't get listed. Here's the longer version — the same checks every find in the catalogue has passed.
Where finds come from
We scan the everyday categories at major retailers (Amazon and Walmart): charging, audio, desk gear, smart home, kitchen tech, wellness and beauty tech. If it doesn't solve a recognizable problem — dead phone, tangled desk, bad sleep, boring walls — it isn't a find, whatever its discount says.
The bar
- Rating: every rated product in the catalogue averages at least 4.3 stars on its listing.
- Review volume: a high average on a handful of reviews proves little. Most picks stand on thousands of reviews; when a pick carries a smaller count, the rating has to be exceptional — and the count is printed on its card either way, so you can judge for yourself.
- A job to do: each find answers a specific need. The one-line description on its card is that job, in plain words.
- Everyday price: every priced pick in the catalogue sits at about $150 or less. Useful gear, not luxury bait.
What we verify before anything is published
- The rating and review count are read from the product's own listing — never from a press release or a brand's page.
- Prices are checked before a find is published, and the catalogue's prices are re-checked on a weekly cycle. A price printed on this site is labeled with its retailer and the date it was checked.
- The product shown in our visuals is checked against the real product — shape, controls, how it's held and used — before the video goes out.
What never makes it
Weak or thin review records. Gimmicks we can't verify. Products we'd have to oversell to recommend. And paid placements: no brand can buy a listing, a ranking or a kind word here.
The honest limits
We curate from review data and listing information — we don't run a test lab, and we won't pretend otherwise. Ratings and counts are snapshots: they move as new reviews land, which is why we date what we print and point you to the listing for the latest. Our product visuals are AI-generated and labeled as such; treat them as illustrations, and the retailer's listing as the specification sheet.
